Horizon4Poland ’24 – European funds for Polish R&D projects!
On November 13 and 14, the third edition of the conference entitled Horizon4Poland took place at the Novotel Warsaw Airport Hotel. The conference was organized by the Branch Contact Points of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, which support entrepreneurs and scientists in applying for EU funds for research and innovation under the Horizon Europe framework program. This year’s conference motto was: “Polish Presidency on the Horizon,” referring to Poland’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union. Watch our video
The opening session featured the following speakers:
- Wieslaw Skwarko, vice president of the Łukasiewicz Research Network;
- Magdalena Bem-Andrzejewska, director of the National Contact Point at the National Center for Research and Development;
- Patrycja Matusz, Ph.D., plenipotentiary of the Minister of Science for European Affairs and the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union;
- Jacek Wasik, acting director of the European Parliament Office in Wroclaw
Horizon4Poland is an event dedicated to representatives of business and science. The current edition was also attended by representatives of more than a dozen European partnerships, including: Virtual Worlds, Batt4UE, Clean Hydrogen Partnership, EIT InnoEnergy, Solar PV, AI Data and Robotics Association, Clean Aviation, SESAR Joint Undertaking, EP PerMed, BrainHealth.
As pointed out by Prof. Leszek Kwiecinski, Ph.D., director of Łukasiewicz – ITECH, the institute that coordinates the work of the six Industry Contact Points at Łukasiewicz:
– (…) This year’s edition of the H4orizon4Poland ’24 conference is of special importance, as it precedes the Polish presidency of the EU, as well as a key decision time for the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028-2034. For this reason, the event is an opportunity to summarize the achievements of Polish (but not only) research teams in recent years and outline opportunities and challenges for the next perspective, especially in the areas of climate policy, health care, artificial intelligence and sustainable development (…).
We registered 500 guests who submitted 274 matchmaking meetings!
Durinf the event six thematic areas related to competitions in the Horizon Europe framework program were discussed:

- The case for covergence How do we close the gap between AI, Data and Robotics (photos)
- Towards Clean European Sky (photos)

Horizon Europe is the largest research and innovation program in the history of the European Union. A total of 93.5 billion euros will be allocated for cutting-edge research and innovative solutions over 7 years (2021-2027). We hope that our conference will host dozens of effective meetings that will lead to the establishment of consortia with Polish companies and scientific and research units.
The Honorary Patron of the event is the European Commission Representation in Poland.
The Strategic Patron is the National Contact Point for EU Research Programs.
